Alright!

It's the third week of the broadcast, and it's all cracking off...
This week saw the first installment of /Fresh Air's/ annual charity
auction. Truth be told, it was only meant to run for one night but so
many lots were donated that the auction will run again next Tuesday,
from 8pm at Frankensteins. Check out the forums to see what is still
available then head down next Tuesday to see the live auction, compered
by /Fresh Air's/ very own Minster of Fun Nick Brown. Over £400 had
already been raised for Waverley Care with rockclimbing days, cinema
tickets, bar crawls, meals and massages still open for bidding, often
with no minimum spend specified. Sold!

Also next week Fresh Air Live returns to put on another great
alternative gig at Cabaret Voltaire. Found
<http://www.myspace.com/foundtheband>, Roy's Iron DNA
<http://www.roysirondna.co.uk> and Down the Tiny Steps
<http://www.downthetinysteps.co.uk> are all lined up in fire drill style
for next Thursdays's gig (28th February). Doors are at 7pm, tickets are
£6 or £5 if you buy them in advance at next week's general meeting

New to the FAN this week is our recommended section. Check the sidebar
for details of special events going on this week. Of particular interest
to readers of the FAN may be the one off Music U Love night, a
fundraiser as part of the Student Apprentice competition. Jules Moretti
will be the guest DJ, there is free shots before 11.30pm and in the top
room there is an open decks competition Check their facebook page for
more details and info on guest list prices
<http://ed.facebook.com/event.php?eid=8281484029>.

See you this week!

/Fresh Air/ does podcasts! As well as being able to listen live through
itunes you can also use that clever little program to subscribe to our
podcasts. There's a new section on the website detailing which shows you
can listen again, in the meantime here's a couple that the /FAN/ has
chosen to highlight.

Show: The Cellar Door
Host: Chris Imlach
Bla bla bla: The Cellar Door plays a mix of obscure, rare, live,
unreleased, remixed, album and b-side tracks from indie, punk,
anti-folk, electronica, hip-hop, folk, electro, rock, and world music
artists throughout musical history as well as the best tracks of the day
and a liberal sprinkling of unsigned acts. Breathe. There's a bit of
talking as well. The Cellar Door is one of the only Fresh Air shows to
have it's own piece of poetry as a jingle. Give it a blast, by listening
via his podcast.
Show time: Thursdays 5-6pm
Podcast: Click me.

Show:Over The Top
Host: Glenn Fischer
Bla Bla Bla: Over The Top, plays Powerpop. And you really should give it
a chance. Expect to hear tunes from the likes of The Turnpike Down,
Bigger Lovers, Lemonheads, Gentlemen Jesse, The Posies, Brass Ring,
Flamin' Groovies, Badfinger, The Plimsouls and Starry Eyes. The
presenter is one of the most enthusiastic Fresh Air members the station
has ever seen. Check out the playlist section on the forums to hear more
about what this kid plays, and pretty much every other section of the
forums to hear what he has to say.
Show time: Wednesdays 2.30-3.30
Podcast. Press here, go on.

Coming On Air next week:

On Monday The Pulse is ready to whet your whistle for the Fresh Air Live
gig by having Ziggy and Tommy from Found chatting live in the studio.
There will also be a special feature on Scotland based Fence Records and
possibly a phone interview with Jonny from Down the Tiny Steps, who are
also playing the Fresh Air Live gig on Thursday. Listen in, Monday 9-10pm.

The *Electric Pyjama Party
<http://www.myspace.com/electronicpyjamaparty>* is having a sleepover!
Well, not quite but it will be joined by special guests for a couple of
nights next week.
On the show next *Wednesday (27th) *Hostage will be live in the studio
performing brand new tracks and giving the chat. Catch it between 10-11
next Wednesday.
The Electric Pyjama Party is also one of numerous shows this year who
are taking advantage of the opportunity to play out pre-recorded shows
after Fresh Air's live schedule has finished. The Electric Pyjama Party
managed to catch up with Swedish techno don /'Zilverface'/ earlier this
week. Here him star in a one off special pre-recorded show which will be
played out at 1am this *Thursday (28th).*

Also next *Thursday, 28th *James Sever
<http://www.myspace.com/jamessevery>y will be chatting to Chris Imlach
via a live phone link-up on his show The Cellar Door between 5pm and
6pm. James Severy has just released his single Do The Circus Circus on
Art Goes Pop records, listen in to here the track and the big man himself.

The Cellar Door and the Pilfered Sessions are also sharing their
talents, their fame, their time and their bodies by teaming up to do
some joint shows this week. Here the glorious exchange between 12.30 and
1.30 on *Wednesday* *27th* for the 'The Pilfered Door' and between
5pm-6pm on *Thurday 28th* for the 'Cellar Session'.

Off air too there is something new this week with the launching of the
*Jp and Fi* shows' excellent new website. On it there are plenty of
videos, in-depth running orders and playlists for each show, forums for
requests and comments, information on bands they love, links to their
facebook and bebo groups, his and her matching dressing gowns and, a
cuddly toy. The FAN may have embellished certain details of the new
website, but not the bit about it's excellence. Check it out at
www.jpandfi.com <http://www.jpandfi.com>.

There's also new material up on our own website
<http://www.freshair.org.uk> this week. Click on the music
<http://www.freshair.org.uk/music/> section of the website to see the
latest reviews of gigs in Edinburgh. *Morrisey *and *Aesop's Fable* both
played the city in the last few weeks, check out what /Fresh Air/
thought of them by clicking here <http://www.freshair.org.uk/music/>.

If you're interested in writing reviews for the /Fresh Air/ website, and
thus gaining the smug glow of an owner of free gig tickets just e-mail
music at freshair.org.uk <mailto:music at freshair.org.uk> or drop by at the
music team meeting, Wednesdays 6pm At Frankensteins.

This week's free track
<http://www.freshair.org.uk/newsletter/beth_wilmshurst_-_castle_walls_%28live%29.mp3>
is by Stirling based singer songwriter Beth Wilmshurst
<http://www.myspace.com/bethwilmshurst> who recorded this track live on
Fresh Air earlier this year.
Beth Wilmhurst brought her delicate mix of acoustic and gentle electonic
tunes to the Connect Festival last year and also supported an impressive
list of other alternative artists including Willy Mason, Newton
Faulkner, The Aliens, Frank Turner, Luke Leighfield & Sam Isaac this
past year. Last week she made her debut on Radio One as part of their
special on Scottish female artists. Her interview is available to hear
again, right here <http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/vicgalloway>.
Currently Beth is playing a number of acoustic shows across Scotland.
Her next live gig will be at Bar Bloc on Bath Street in Glasgow on the
25th February where she'll be performing along with I See Shapes.
